Today, with spring in full bloom and the weather sunny and pleasant, about 20 Senior Residents from Hilliard Senior Buildings and Hilliard HHCD Staff enthusiastically participated in the AANHPI Heritage Month and America 250 Celebration activities downtown.
Together with the Mayor of Chicago, officials from Cook County Government, the Chinese Consul General in Chicago, leaders from various Asian American communities, and nearly a thousand Asian Pacific Americans and expatriates, they enjoyed a vibrant celebration of Asian Pacific culture and spent a joyful and memorable time together.
The residents were very happy to participate in this meaningful community event and appreciated the opportunity to celebrate cultural diversity and heritage with so many people from different communities.

Residents and Case Managers from Riverwalk Homes joined the Chicago Coalition to end Homelessness in Springfield today to advocate for HB1429.

The bill would stop governments in Illinois from creating or enforcing policies or ordinances imposing fines or criminal penalties against people experiencing unsheltered homelessness for occupying or engaging in life-sustaining activities on public property.

Today we demonstrated that a truly effective Continuum of Care means empowering impacted individuals to advocate for systemic changes using their own lived experience.
