Achieving your goals
Our Family Helping Yours
Families, adults, youth and senior citizens living in HHCD’s affordable, mixed-income and subsidized housing receive a full array of services based on their individual needs, overseen by on-site Resident Service Coordinators (RSC). HHCD provides service coordination for families and senior citizens, individual assessment and referrals, lease compliance training and housing support, and housing and supportive services for homeless individuals and those at risk of homelessness.
Our philosophy of service seeks to guide clients in setting and attaining goals and prevent issues or behaviors that may jeopardize their housing status. A needs assessment of each household is performed in order to provide a continuum of services and assess the household’s ability to meet and maintain lease compliance. Resident Service Coordinators provide pre- and post-occupancy social service referrals and/or one-on-one counseling, and build partnerships to connect clients with existing services in their community.
Programs include, but are not limited to, basic needs and social services, senior services, employment and training, utility assistance, lease compliance, budgeting and credit counseling, and referrals for health, wellness, mental health and substance abuse services. The Resident Service Coordinators provide on-going case management with each client or family to develop individual action plans and to provide guidance and track progress towards achieving their goals to increase self-sufficiency.
Senior Services
HHCD provides specialized services for seniors residing in Hilliard Towers Senior and the senior building at Wilson Yard. Services are designed to help seniors maintain active, healthy lifestyles and remain in independent living as long as possible.
Senior services include: on-site health and wellness events, social activities to reduce isolation, coordination of proper home supports, and site-based staff to support aging-in-place and independence.
Homeless Services
Lawson House provides safe, affordable housing for low-income adults, the homeless, and those at risk of becoming homeless. To accomplish this mission, HHCD provides more than just a room; we give them the tools to help rebuild their lives with dignity.
The Lawson House Life Development Center is a one-stop social service center offering supportive services with an array of partners to promote independent living and self-sufficiency.
Services include: service coordination and case management, life skills workshops and support groups, linkages to mental and physical health services, public aid/SSI enrollment assistance, employment counseling, on-site computer lab, food pantry and links to supplemental nutrition programs, and a clothing closet.
Our Communities
HHCD lives its mission by providing workforce development programs for job seekers and employers, and comprehensive resident services for families, youth, seniors and homeless at-risk individuals to maintain stable, independent and healthy lifestyles; and by collaborating with partners to build strong communities.
Workforce Development
HHCD helps youth and adults get the training and education they need to find the right jobs for them leading to self-sufficiency. HHCD directly provides assessments, job coaching and career exploration and job placement assistance with local employers at the program service sites, and refers clients to external education and training partners.
